Question:
Are there any special requirements
for the network?
Answer:
If you have a Novell network,
it must be long file name
compliant. Check that it is.
If not, this can be done easily
by your network technician.
Other networks you can use
are a Windows 2000 or 2003
server or a simple Windows
peer-to-peer network.
Question:
We bought Multiuser Verdict.
Where do I install it?
Answer:
Quick answer is program on
C:, data on server. Install
the Verdict program on the
C: drive of each computer
that should have access to
it. Put the data on the server.
To do this, first make a subdirectory
on the server for the Verdict
Data. We recommend Verdict10\Data
(a subdirectory called Verdict
10 and, under it, a subdirectory
called Data). Then install
Verdict 10 on the C: drive
of your computer. When you
get to the Setup of Subdirectories
screen, tell Verdict that
the data directory will be
on the server, i.e., F:\verdict10\data.
Question:
I also purchased CheckWrite.
Do I put it in the Verdict subdirectory?
Answer:
No. CheckWrite should be in
its own subdirectory on the
C: drive of each computer
that should have access to
CheckWrite. The data should
be in a subdirectory on the
server, i.e., F:\CW8\Data.
Question:
What if we don't want everyone
to have access to CheckWrite?
Answer:
Don't install the CheckWrite
program on their computer.
The data will be up on the
server, but they can't access
it. Also CheckWrite as well
as Verdict have password protection.
Set up passwords and only
give selected people the passwords.
Question:
What about General Ledger? Where
should it be?
Answer:
General Ledger should be in
its own subdirectory on the
C: drive of each computer
that should have access to
General Ledger. The data should
be in a subdirectory on the
server, i.e., F:\GL8\Data.
Question:
Then how do the programs integrate?
Answer:
In CheckWrite, you tell CheckWrite
where Verdict and General
Ledger are. Go to Settings,
to Data Toolbox. Browse and
find the subdirectory for
Verdict. Then browse and find
the subdirectory for General
Ledger. In General Ledger,
you tell General Ledger where
Verdict is in Settings on
the data Toolbox tab.
